Welcome to Arrow Rock!
Great day trip!
Mark F, St. Louis
ARROW ROCK was settled in the early 1800's and became a town in 1829 - - named for its abundance of flint rock as noted by Lewis and Clark as they passed by in 1804. Arrow Rock was a key Missouri River ferry crossing for pioneers heading west across the plains on the many westward trails including the Sante Fe Trail. It was also a busy port of commerce for the many steamboats on the Missouri River.

FRIENDS OF ARROW ROCK - In 1959, the non-profit organization Friends of Arrow Rock was founded dedicated to the conscientious preservation of Arrow Rock’s historic buildings.

MISSOURI RIVER BIRD OBSERVATORY

Each year, MRBO conducts avian population monitoring and applied research on almost 100,000 acres of Missouri’s most imperiled habitats – prairies, wetlands and forests. The resulting data are communicated to land managers, owners and the public so that we all further understand specific effects of stewardship on birds. Education and outreach is an integral component of MRBO’s work and takes place in both formal and informal settings.
